From December 6 to 22, the
famous Christmas ballet The Nutcracker returns to the Ríos Reyna room of the
Teresa Carreño Theater, with the renowned and traditional version by Maestro Vicente
Nebrada and the music of Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
The official premiere of The Nutcracker will take
place on Friday in a special presentation for communities. In addition, 22 performances
will be offered from December 7 to 15, from Wednesday to Friday, at
6:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday in double function, at 11:00am and 5:00pm.
Meanwhile, from December 18 to 22,
the performances will be in double batches from Wednesday to Sunday, at 11:00am and
5:00pm.
The 28th season of the show will
feature the participation of the Teresa Carreño Theater Ballet and the Teresa Carreño Youth
Ballet from centers of Caracas, Nueva Esparta and Lara, under the direction
of master repertoires Inés Rojas, Cristina Gallardo, Adriana Estrada and Javier Solano.
The music, which Tchaikovsky composed between 1891 and 1892 for
the original production premiered at the
Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on December 18, 1892, will be performed by the Venezuelan Symphony
Orchestra under the baton of the teachers: Alfonso López Chollet, Daniel Gil and teacher Elisa Vegas.
In Venezuela, Vicente Nebrada's version stands out for maintaining the essence of the original Russian ballet, as well as for the impeccable balance that the Creole dancer brought to it by combining music, scenography, stage movements and special effects with choreography.
