This Friday, the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, reported that his country is willing to buy oil from the Russian Federation due to the deficit due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Thailand will be one of the countries that will now start negotiations with Russia on the purchase of crude oil. (...) The Government is urgently negotiating the purchase of more oil outside the Persian Gulf region to compensate for the possible deficit,” said Ratchakitprakarn
The headline specified that the conflict in the Middle East threatens oil supplies from the Persian Gulf to Thailand, which account for about half of its imports.
Currently, he emphasized, the Asian country has enough crude oil reserves to process petroleum products for 98 days.
In the midst of the energy crisis that broke out after military attacks in the Middle East, more and more countries are seeking to replace oil from the Persian Gulf with that from Russia.
