At the “Guillermon Moncada” International Port, in the province of Santiago de Cuba, the ship of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) “Manuel Gual” arrived, with 102 containers carrying 5,000 tons of humanitarian aid to assist the people of eastern Cuba, severely affected after the passage of hurricane Melissa, which impacted 33 municipalities in 4 provinces ( Granma, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo).

Present at the reception of the ship were the Deputy Prime Minister, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca; the president of the Provincial Defense Council, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia; Governor Manuel Falcón Hernández; and the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, accompanied by the Venezuelan ambassador, Orlando Maneiro Gaspar.

The ALBA-TCP ship, which sailed from the International Port of La Guaira on November 8, sailed for three days across the Caribbean Sea, carrying solidarity, life, dignity and hope, at a time when the shadow of imperialism hangs over the Caribbean region, which threatens to violate hemispheric peace and stability.

Among the 102 containers are 74 with food and 28 with medicines, drinking water, basic household items (lingerie, mattresses, plastic bags), clothes, toys, water storage tanks and electrical equipment.

Also, during the morning of Monday, November 10, a Venezuelan brigade of specialists arrived in Cuba, including 22 electrical technicians, 4 road technicians and 2 bridge technicians, to support the early recovery of the electrical system and road system in the east of the island.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon of this very Monday, as another gesture of love and solidarity, a second ship sailed with 3,000 tons of humanitarian aid for the noble Cuban people, becoming the fourth shipment of humanitarian aid, following the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, to continue supporting sister Cuba, in order to face this contingency.

In this way, Cuba and Venezuela strengthen their solidarity and historic brotherhood, which have been consistent in times of difficulty for both peoples, despite the fact that they are victims of the cruel and criminal blockade and of the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the U.S. government.
