The Astrobus brought joy, science and knowledge to the Guayana Esequiba transitory camp

The Astrobus of the Center for Research Foundation for Astronomy and Applied Technologies (Cidata), in the state of Mérida, brought joy, science and knowledge to the Guayana Esequiba Cultural and Sports Complex temporary camp in San Bernardino, in the city of Caracas.

The head of the science outreach department of Cidata, Ángel Díaz, stressed that Astrobús seeks to provide educational astronomical training to children and young people who are in the temporary camp after the effects of the earthquakes that occurred on June 24.

“We have served 132 colleagues with families, with boys, girls, adults of all ages, to bring them a little astronomy, always accompanying them morally, always giving them all that solidarity support from the state of accompanying, or together, with scientific knowledge,” he said.

He explained, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology, that the objective of the Astrobus visit “is to be able to provide support to all these families who are in these temporary camps hand in hand with astronomy. We can bring them a little closer to the stars, we can help with their distraction, in their formation, and for that we brought 2 astrobuses to talk at different levels about the solar system, about exoplanets, about Venezuelan satellites.”
