On May 12, 1821, the Battle of El Rodeo took place at a nearby site in Guatire (Miranda), where the patriots defeated the royalists.

In this military confrontation, the patriotic forces were under the command of General José Francisco Bermúdez, who with a good strategy managed to weaken the Spanish commanded by Colonel José María Hernández Monagas.

When Bermudez arrived at El Rodeo, he took position and installed cannons in the hills near the Camino de Oriente, leaving a detachment in Araira. When the royalists began to attack, they were suppressed by the patriots with artillery fire and by lancers over and over again, which led to their defeat, the battle lasted three hours.

The Bermudez Fun, named after the general's tactics that distracted the Spaniards, consisted of moving his troops from the East to Guatire, then to Caracas, then to Valles de Aragua, back to Guatire, then to the Valles del Tuy and then to Caracas until they reached Guatire and Barlovento; it weakened the Spanish, thus leading to the victory of Carabobo.
