With the purpose of uniting producers, listening to their needs and articulating concrete actions that strengthen their economic and social well-being in the state of Monagas, the Bolivarian Government began the formation of the first Productive Council of Oil Palm Producers.

This new council seeks to strengthen sustainable oil palm production, a strategic area for the country's economic development, according to a press release from the Ministry of People's Power for Food.

The announcement was made by Félix Romero, Deputy Minister of Business and Services of the Ministry and the National Commissioner for Fats and Oils of Venezuela, who stressed that this first advice is only the beginning of a larger process.

“From here, we will move towards the formation of assemblies in all palm-producing municipalities, and then moving towards the creation of agrarian assemblies at the regional and national levels of the palm sector, allowing greater participation and representation of producers in the country's key decisions,” he said.

This effort responds directly to the guidelines of the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, who has promoted policies to strengthen agricultural production and guarantee the country's food sovereignty.

The event was attended by the governor of the state of Monagas, Ernesto Luna, and the mayor of Maturín, Ana Fuentes, who reiterated their support for productive initiatives and the sustainable development of the palm sector in the region.
