The Bolivarian Government established a humanitarian corridor with four service points, to receive families who arrive in Venezuela displaced after violent training in several municipalities in Colombia.
The national director of Civil Protection (PC), Admiral Juan Carlos Oti, explained that the humanitarian corridor is to provide care to people who come from the neighboring country.
“We are complying with the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro to attend to our Venezuelan brothers who return to their territory fleeing an armed conflict and to the Colombian brothers who have moved from their territory to a territory of peace such as Venezuela,” he said.
He also assured that the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force is comprised of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, doctors, firefighters and Civil Protection.
“All the authorities present here are unarmed, demonstrating that friendly arm to all those people who are on this very busy border,” he said.
Oti asserted that unfortunately, at this time, there is irregular activity in Colombia and people are coming to Venezuela in search of that peace.
“We are at kilometer 16 taking care of them with all the love, so that we can take them to the main shelter that is in a football stadium,” he added.
He explained that people who enter are treated, checked for health, are given food and sleep under our protection.
“The Sectorial Vice President for Policy, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, has given us instructions so that this Humanitarian Task Force Simón Bolívar is here shaking hands with our Venezuelan brothers and our brothers in the Colombian people,” he said.
He recalled that this conflict has occurred on other occasions in Colombia and as always the “Venezuelan people, with that Peace Diplomacy of President Nicolás Maduro, receive them, we attend to them, until the conflict ends,” he said.
