The Bolivarian Government estimates that more than 26 tons of food are distributed weekly in PDVAL and MERCAL

The Bolivarian Government, through the Food Market (MERCAL) and the Venezuelan Food Producer and Distributor (PDVAL), are planning a weekly distribution of 26,273 tons of food through a network of 416 establishments, said the president of MERCAL, Félix Medina Plaza.

In statements replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), Medina Plaza explained that the expansion is part of the relaunch of the food chain, whose objective is to serve Venezuelans.

In this regard, he noted that they have established four models of establishments: type one, type two, supersupplied and hypersupplied. In addition, he explained that the new spaces seek to become meeting points for communities.

“The community can sit there quietly to taste a coffee, eat an empanada and turn it into a meeting place,” said the official, referring to the surfers.

In addition, the president of the entity indicated that the establishments incorporate air conditioning systems and digitalization and modernization processes. “A total reengineering has allowed us to be competitive to offer better prices to citizens,” he said.
