The Bolivarian Government is making progress in the rehabilitation of more than 1,000 schools and high schools across the country

The Bolivarian Government has begun the comprehensive rehabilitation of more than 1,000 educational institutions, across the country, heading into the new school year, said the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez.

During an inspection of the recovery work of the Simón Rodríguez Ecological School, in Fuerte Tiuna, Caracas, he explained that before the earthquakes of June 24, work had already been carried out on about 500 buildings through the Community and Military Brigades for Education (BRICOMILES), governorates, municipalities, communities and the Foundation for Buildings and Educational Endowments (FEDE), attached to the Ministry of Education.

“We had 500 schools that were shortlisted before the earthquakes across the country, but now we're adding 1,000 more, to serve all the schools that were affected,” he said.

The minister, according to a press release, explained that some 600 schools have already been supervised out of the 800 that reported, during a first inspection, some kind of damage.

“All of this is to ensure that on September 14th, when classes start, all schools are in optimal condition, as safe spaces for our boys and girls. So this whole month of August is going to be a month of work, of recovery, of maintenance, and also of the completion of new works that were under development, so that our sons and daughters have the best possible schools and the best possible education,” he said.

It should be noted that this rehabilitation process will focus on states with the greatest damage caused by earthquakes.
