The National Government, through the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace (MPPRIJP), through the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT), launched a national preventive operation aimed at eradicating the use of unauthorized LED bars and high-power lighting systems.

In the Citizen Service Points located throughout the country, the preventive operation is still active, which is led by the INTT in coordination with State security bodies, which seek to guarantee road safety and compliance with current regulations, the MPPPIJP reports on its Instagram account.

The operations also seek to guide drivers and citizens on the risks generated by these changes in visibility and mobility.

The measure to eradicate the use of LED bars was taken in view of the latent danger posed by these accessories, the authorities have warned that these devices generate a severe glare effect on those who travel in the opposite direction, compromising their ability to react on motorways and rural roads, becoming the trigger for numerous traffic accidents.

The INTT has established a protocol for immediate action that does not allow concessions. The procedure stipulates the stopping of the vehicle and the mandatory removal of prohibited lighting systems in the same place of boarding.

This regulation is applied transversally, ranging from private vehicles to public transport and heavy load units.
