In a statement, the National Library of Venezuela reaffirmed that the country's Collective Memory remains intact and denied that it was lost due to the rains.

“The country's Collective Memory was not lost during the development of the rains, as an attempt has been made to misinform for adverse purposes,” the entity said in the statement.

In this regard, he reported that the damages to its headquarters, due to the heavy rains in Caracas, occurred in “a disincorporated material deposit, which is no longer part of the collections and is used for donations to users.”

He reiterated that “collections sensitive to our cultural heritage, such as the Arcaya Library, Rare Books and Manuscripts, the National Newspaper Library, the Audiovisual Archive, Official Publications and the General Bibliographic Publications, are free from any damage and in a proper state of preservation, located in the areas where they are traditionally protected”.

For this reason, the National Library of Venezuela confirmed that it has trained personnel and protocols for dealing with contingencies, as well as conservation materials and general services to ensure the preservation of its valuable information.
