The Dominican Republic sent a contingent of doctors to treat the people affected by the double earthquake

This Tuesday, a contingent of doctors from the Dominican Republic, backed by the World Health Organization, arrived in Venezuela to provide care for the victims of the double earthquake of last June 24.

At the front, Yuri Pimentel, Deputy Minister for Africa of the Foreign Ministry, thanked, on “behalf of the Venezuelan people and the Government, led by President (e), Delcy Rodríguez, to our brothers in the Dominican Republic, for the support they have been giving us for several days.”

Luis Osoria Lara, leader of the emergency medical team in the Dominican Republic, explained that they are part of “the advanced deployment of the emergency medical team in the Dominican Republic, which has the capacity to treat 100 patients daily and we will be operational in the first phase for 100 days.”

“Right now we are bringing medicine, water, vaccine, but we are also bringing technological equipment for the search and rescue units that were engaged in missions a few days ago,” he added.

Finally, he explained that in the coming days a new contingent of doctors will arrive in the country, to set up a field hospital.
