Tensions in the Middle East escalated dangerously after the bombings launched by the United States against three Iranian nuclear facilities, directly ordered by President Donald Trump, who said they caused “monumental damage”, despite the fact that there is no evidence of these statements.
In this context, as reported by Telesur, the president shared a threatening message, openly suggesting a “regime change” in Iran, a proposal that openly ignores the remarkable support of the Iranian people for their authorities and for the Islamic Revolution.
“If the current Iranian regime is unable to make Iran great again, why wouldn't there be regime change?” , Trump wrote on his Truth Social network, using a variant of his well-known motto “MAGA” (Make America Great Again), this time transformed into “MIGA” (“Make Iran Great Again”).
The US president, who publicly celebrated the success of the “Midnight Hammer” operation, thus insinuated that his Government does not rule out promoting a collapse of the Iranian political system, while thousands of Iranians took to the streets in response to what they described as imperialist and Zionist aggression.
For its part, this Sunday Iran made it clear to the UN that it does not intend to abandon the defense of its peaceful nuclear program or its revolution. The permanent representative of the Islamic Republic to the UN Security Council, Saeed Iravani, was categorical:
“Iran reserves its full legitimate right to defend itself, in accordance with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter,” said the Persian official, stressing that his country is prepared to respond militarily to any violation of its national sovereignty.
