The Animal Nutrition and Food Laboratory of the Center for Agricultural Biotechnology (CBA) of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) successfully completed the experimental phase of a key project to transform the country's productive matrix.

As part of the research line “Development of new protein trends as sources of raw material for animal food”, the team carried out a high-impact field trial for 42 days.

The objective: to biologically evaluate Chymosin, a recombinant protein obtained by Dr. José David Rosales, a researcher at the Center for Biophysics and Biochemistry of the IVIC.

The study, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), was carried out in broiler units of the Ross 308 line, analyzing the productive performance and physiological response of birds to this new protein alternative. The results mark a before and after in the search for sovereign, efficient and scalable solutions.

The heart of this work is to reduce dependence on imported protein sources for the manufacture of balanced foods. By developing and validating its own technology within its facilities, the IVIC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the country's agri-food security.
