The Attorney General's Office of the Nation of Colombia reported this Tuesday, 09, that the prosecutor investigating former President Álvaro Uribe resigned from office for alleged bribery of witnesses and procedural fraud.

This was announced by the Colombian Public Prosecutor's Office, through its account on the social network X, in which it published an official statement from the institution.

In a review of the Russia Today portal, he specifies that he is Andrés Palencia Fajardo, prosecutor 10 delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice, who resigned “arguing for personal reasons related to the health of his family”.

He points out that Palencia was expected to define during these days whether to accuse the former president (2002-2010), given that the 90-day deadline granted by law was about to expire as soon as a prosecutor assumes a case, local media reported.

“In view of the judicial vacancy presented, and for the purpose of continuing the investigative activity (...) the case has been assigned to prosecutor 12 (Víctor Salcedo Fuentes) delegated to the Court for the relevant matters,” he added.

Therefore, Salcedo will have another three months to determine whether to proceed with the indictment against Uribe or if he asks for the preclusion of the case.
