This Wednesday, the Venezuelan sky was able to enjoy the conjunction between the moon and the cluster of stars known as The Crib, also known as M-44, located in the constellation of Cancer, as announced by the science communicator, Ángel Díaz, of the Francisco J. Duarte Astronomy Research Center (CIDA).
Díaz, pointed out that this astronomical phenomenon occurred at 21:48 Venezuelan Legal Time (HLV), that is, at 9:48 minutes at night.
In this regard, according to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology, he explained that in Venezuela the conjunction could be seen starting at 11:15 at night, accompanied, in addition, by the planet Mars, in an east-northeast direction.
The expert recalled that a conjunction is a phenomenon that occurs when two or more celestial bodies meet (optically), between 0.5° and up to 9° apart as seen from our planet Earth.
“Astronomically, it refers to the moment when two or more celestial bodies share the same right ascension, or ecliptic length, in the sky,” he concluded.
