The Austrian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) specialized in privacy Noyb filed complaints this Monday in nine European countries, including Spain, accusing X of violating the laws of the European Union (EU) for using the data of millions of users without consent to train their Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to a statement from Noyb, reported by the newspaper Última Noticias, the complaint was filed with data protection authorities in Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The NGO accused X, controlled by magnate Elon Musk, of feeding its Artificial Intelligence technology with personal data of some 60 million European users without informing them or requesting their consent, something mandatory in European laws.

“Recently, Twitter (now “X”) has started illegally using the personal data of more than 60 million users to train its AI technology without user consent. Unlike Meta (which recently also had to stop AI training in the EU), Twitter didn't even inform its users in advance,” says the NGO.

Since X has started to use these private data and that there is no option to delete those already processed, Noyb requests an “urgent procedure” for the authorities to quickly take action on the matter, demanding a preliminary suspension of this practice.
