A protest against Argentine President Javier Milei in Lomas de Zamora led to his removal from the site this Wednesday after demonstrators threw objects.

The demonstrators threw stones, bottles and eggs at the presidential car during the political ceremony, condemning his administration and the accusations of alleged corruption against the National Agency for Disability (ANDIS).

The protest reflected social discontent over accusations involving officials close to the president. The police intervened to disperse the participants and escort Milei in an armored vehicle.

For his part, the local mayor, Federico Otermín, warned of the risk of holding a presidential entourage during working hours and called for peaceful protests.

The demonstration coincided with the release of audio recordings linking Diego Spagnuolo, former director of ANDIS, to an alleged system of irregular payments in public procurement. The recordings mention Eduardo Menem and Karina Milei as potential beneficiaries. The government fired Spagnuolo, intervened in the agency and announced an audit. The courts have launched an investigation, according to RTVE's press release.

The Lomas de Zamora incident adds to the tense climate surrounding Milei's intentions to be re-elected as president.
