They promote food production in Caracas by supporting 200 agro-urban women

The Great Venezuela Women Mission, through vertex No. 3, granted funding to 200 agro-urban women, in order to produce more than 300,000 kilograms of vegetables on 5.2 hectares in 11 prioritized parishes in Caracas, with the help of the ministries of the Popular Power of Urban Agriculture and Women and Gender Equality, during a day organized at the Fabricio Ojeda Endogenous Development Center (Nudefo), located in the Bolivarian Libertador municipality.

These funds correspond to the provision of agricultural tools and seedlings of paprika, chili and chives, in order to promote women's economic empowerment, through technical support and training, for the development of productive projects, related to the production of agrotoxic-free foods for self-consumption, as well as to benefit the communities in their circle and circle.


After taking a tour to learn about the different productive experiences of women, Minister Jhoanna Carrillo, together with Alix Forero, Deputy Minister of Agrourban Productive Development and David Gómez Rodríguez, general director of the Ciara Foundation, among other representatives of State institutions, assured that President Nicolás Maduro called on all women to agri-food production and the Conuqueras joined the call. “This task has undoubtedly made it possible to ensure that Conuquera women feel empowered in their spaces and Caracas has surprised us, because it has spaces of more than 200 meters. Every colleague we are funding has their productive space,” she said.

Training certificates

Minister Carrillo said that the most interesting thing about this policy is that it is accompanied by training by field technicians from the Ciara Foundation, an organization attached to the MINPPAU.

He explained that the 200 women who received funding also obtained certificates in the area of Urban Agriculture, which makes it possible to leverage, in the communal circuits, the productive chain between them, “the Great Venezuela Women's Mission also has its conuquer heart,” he said.

For her part, Dheliz Álvarez, head of the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, said that they organized an extraordinary activity within the framework of the Great Venezuela Women's Mission, created by President Nicolás Maduro, which protects women in all its vertices in an integral way. “Today, especially, we are in vertex 3, which is a woman who is an independent economic subject,” she said.

La Voz de la Mujer Conuquera

Florimar Coronil, conuquera of La Pastora parish, expressed a few words of thanks to President Nicolás Maduro and Minister Jhoanna Carrillo, for the funding that 200 women from Caracas are receiving. “We are eradicating the thought that Caracas is not a productive area. Here we have areas, parishes that are getting ahead with production, to supply our entire territory,” he said.

Geraldine Cedeño, producer of the Cotton sector in the Antimano parish, added that with the production they are showing that they are prepared to resolve any economic blockade; because of our food sovereignty, we have the feet on the ground to go out and fight for our country. “And with Maduro and Chávez, we relented, the women of Venezuela are always present,” she said.

Davanna Harry s, from Coche Parish, noted that she received the tools to work the land. He said that in his sector there is a lot of vegetation and mountains that can be used. “Thanks to President Nicolás and his entire team, we are active and fighting every day, so that all the women, men, the elderly and children of this country remain firm, under the blessings. Let's not allow any person to change our perception of our Venezuela,” he said.
