This Thursday, April 16, the Delegation of Venezuela was installed before the Parliament of the Common Market of the South (PARLASUR), at an event held in the Bicentennial Hall of Monte Sacro, of the Federal Legislative Palace, where all the members were sworn in.

The presidency of the aforementioned delegation was in charge of the deputy Saúl Ortega Campos, who expressed his aspiration for the country to enter the space of regional integration.

“It's up to us to do the necessary steps before the Bloc's Directive for the full incorporation of Venezuela, with voice and vote,” he stressed in a review published on the website of the National Assembly (AN).

Ortega explained that the suspension of Venezuela for a long eight years before that instance was due to political positions of the time, despite the innumerable efforts with political organizations in the organization, the incorporation was unsuccessful. However, he asserted that the country is currently in a favorable and more receptive phase.

He also announced the progress of previous talks with the current president of the instance, Deputy Rodrigo Gamarra, which he described as very receptive, because the senior official assumed the commitment to manage the incorporation of Venezuela into the integration space.

“So that the Venezuelan delegation could soon be received by the board of directors; also by the plenary of the Parliament to make a commitment and, of course, to join the tasks,” he announced.

Ortega said that among the topics to be discussed at this meeting are the review of legal instruments, evaluating pending issues and, consequently, establishing a position in each area or topic.

The Venezuelan delegation to PARLASUR was composed of deputies María Chávez, Maite Ochoa; and deputies Juan Romero, Alfonso Campos, Tomás Guanipa, Henry Parra, Yusmaro Jiménez, José Gregorio Correa and Luis Parra.

Also members of this delegation are deputies Ruben Limas, Francisco Torrealba, Roy Daza, Jesús Fanía, Carlos Gamarra, Rodolfo Sanz, Jehyson Guzmán, David Uzcátegui, and deputies Nora Bracho, Genesis Garvett, América Pérez, Desiree Santos Amaral, Blanca Eekhout and Rodbexa Poleo.
