Starting this Friday, April 25, the 202 Pan-American and Oceania Senior Individual Championship will take place in Santiago de Chile, where Anriquelis Barrios represents Venezuela.

The continental event will serve for the reunion of the 31-year-old Guianese judoka with the competitive scene because she had not stepped on the mat for an international joust since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This will be his tenth participation in continental events since 2011, and he will have the mission of surpassing his last jousting result in this series, specifically in 2025, when he finished in fifth place at 63 kilos.

The Venezuelan team also includes Luis Amézquita in the +100 kilos. His last competition was in February 2024 and he has won four podiums in European events during his sports career. He won a silver medal at the Medellín Pan American Open (2023), and three bronze medals at the continental Open in Santo Domingo (2023), Córdoba (2022) and Bogotá (2022).

Eliana Aguiar, only 22 years old, will compete in the -70 kilos. The young judoka has two participations in world championships in the junior category, Morocco 2019 and Ecuador 2022, and won silver metal in the 2021 Youth Pan American Championship.
