This Monday, the deputy to the National Assembly, Francisco Torrealba, asserted that the working class today supports the call made to re-elect President Nicolás Maduro.
“We the Venezuelan working class will continue on the streets
accompanying this worker from the Caracas Metro who is today our
President,” he said during the Anti-Imperialist Tribune installed in Plaza Bolívar in Caracas in defense of sovereignty 22 years after the 2002 coup d'etat.
He stressed that events such as those that occurred in Venezuela in April 2002 will never be repeated.
“The working class and the revolutionary forces and the majority of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces defeated that coup d'etat in less than 48 hours and today we are making use of memory and political clarity. These coups will never be accompanied by the workers' sector, because the Venezuelan working class is today more than ever Chavista,” he said.
On the other hand, he also reaffirmed that workers reject the initiatives of the Venezuelan right that have not abandoned the alternative of violence and that it has funding from the United States to destabilize the country.
“In the absence of votes and of the people, they continue with the intention of creating new scenes of violence in this country. We have to say that, like 22 years ago, we have not accompanied any kind of call to destabilize or to ignore the will of a people that is determined, as (Hugo) Chávez taught us, to defend their sovereignty and dignity,” he said.
