Training program for agricultural teachers begins with 120 producers from Merida

The Ministry of Science and Technology (Mincyt) began a new cohort of the Training Program for Agricultural Teachers and Teachers in Sustainable Cocoa Management in Tucaní, Mérida state.
According to a press release, the training day brought together 120 producers from the municipality of Caracciolo Parra and Olmedo, who participated in the first meeting called Good Agricultural Practices for Cocoa Farming.
The program aims to appropriate scientific and technical knowledge for the strengthening of the cocoa production system in the Andean region.
The participants addressed essential content on the botanical characteristics of cacao, its origin, the Criollo and foreign varieties, as well as the ecophysiological factors that influence flowering, pollination and crop productivity.
This initiative is part of the Scientific-Peasant Alliance, a strategy that seeks to integrate scientific knowledge with local knowledge.
