Heavy rains and strong winds from Basyang left streets covered with mud and debris in the north of the island of Mindanao, in the south of the Philippine archipelago.
In the slums, many families were forced to move to upper floors or to evacuation centers.
In the city of Cagayan de Oro, four members of a family died in a landslide, while in the city of Iligan one person died of a heart attack after his apartment flooded, according to local media reports. Both cities are located on the island of Mindanao.
According to information detailed by Sputnik, in total, more than 6 thousand people were evacuated from risk areas.
The authorities also warn that, despite the weakening of the storm, the risk of new floods and landslides remains high.
Memories of recent natural disasters are still alive in the Philippines. In early November 2025, Typhoon Kalmaegi and Super Typhoon Fung-Wong hit the country, leaving more than 300 fatalities.
