In order to promote interest in applied sciences, robotics and programming, the Simón Rodríguez National Experimental University (UNESR), located in the La Beatriz parish of the Valera municipality, became the headquarters of the state qualifier for the 2026 Creative Robotics Olympics (ORC2026).
At this meeting, a total of 96 boys, girls and young people demonstrate their scientific and technical skills, with proposals aimed at boosting the nation's productive engines.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MINCYT), among the outstanding projects is Café Guardianes de Especialidad, a prototype designed for the automated selection of coffee cherries.
Anays Mendoza, a member of the creative team, highlighted that these Olympics are a platform for learning and contributing to the country's development: “I invite all boys and girls to venture into this world of robotics,” he added.
For his part, the executive director of the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite) in Trujillo, Daniel Avenaño, explained that the initiative seeks to encourage automation practices from an early age.
“On this occasion, 96 young people, aged between 8 and 18, are participating in 36 projects from 26 educational institutions,” he explained.
