Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared national mourning for the fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort, located near the city of Bolu in the northwest of that country.
“On January 22, national mourning is declared. Before the sun goes down, the country's flag will be lowered,” said the Turkish leader in a speech to the nation after a meeting of the Council of Ministers this Tuesday, quoted by Sputnik.
Erdogan said that 17 people injured by the fire have already been discharged, while the other injured are still undergoing treatment, one remains in intensive care.
At least 66 people died and 51 others were injured by a fire at the ski resort of Kartalkaya, in Bolu province, Türkiye.
