UN has raised 274 million dollars to help Venezuela after a double earthquake

The United Nations (UN) humanitarian response plan for Venezuela due to the double earthquake has received 274 million dollars, said the spokesman for the organization's General Secretariat, Stéphane Dujarric.

“To date, the plan has received 274 million dollars, while the private sector has provided more than 32 million dollars for humanitarian aid... we must also add donations in terms of goods and services,” he said.

As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), Dujarric highlighted that the Venezuelan Government is leading the response to the tragedy, “focusing on supporting displaced people and meeting urgent humanitarian needs.”

According to the UN, the initiative is led by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which plans to serve 5.5 million vulnerable people and requires 632 million dollars to provide assistance.

The double earthquake that shook our country has left more than 3,500 dead and at least 16,700 injured, the vast majority in the state of La Guaira, in addition to some 17,000 people who lost their homes.
