This Friday, the United Nations (UN) system in Lebanon, through a statement, said that more than 614 million women and girls live in conflict-affected areas around the world, a figure that increased 50 percent since 2017.

“From the Middle East to Haiti, Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine, Afghanistan and everywhere else, women pay the highest price for conflicts for which they are not responsible. The need for peace has never been more urgent,” he said.

In this regard, he indicated that the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has caused the displacement of 91,288 residents from October 2023 to the end of last month of this year, while stressing that women and girls living in conflict, despite being the main victims, are the ones who collaborate the most to help those most in need, reported the Xinhua news agency.

“Women in Lebanon and around the world demonstrate incredible strength and leadership, especially in crisis management and community support,” said the UN's humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza.
