The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, announced through his Telegram channel, the ratification of experts from the United Nations (UN) in identifying attacks on boats in the Caribbean as crimes against humanity.

In that regard, he noted that the agency urged the United States Government to put an end to these attacks, which are a “violation of the fundamental norms of international human rights law and international maritime laws.”

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, also recently called for an end to these actions, which he described as “violating international law”.

“These attacks, and their increasing human cost, are unacceptable. The United States must put an end to such attacks and take all necessary measures to prevent the extrajudicial killing of people on board these vessels, regardless of the crimes they are charged with,” he said.
