Next Friday, January 31, the National Experimental
University of the Arts (UNEARTE) will open its doors
to host the discussion The Theater in Africa, which will be held in the
Anna Julia Rojas room starting at 10:00 a.m.
According to information from Venezolana de
Televisión, the event will be attended and participated by actor and theater
director Hassane Kouyaté, a native of Burkina Faso.
The activity organized by the Ministry
of Popular Power for Culture and the National Theater Company will deal with
aspects associated with dramaturgy in this continent and its evolution over the
years, in addition to dealing with Kouyaté's career on stage and
his plays premiered in European nations such as England.
Kouyaté has been in charge of the
management of the Zébrures D'Automne Festival in Limoge, France; as well as
acting as advisor to the African Performing Arts Market (MASA) in Ivory Coast, Africa, and he also founded the Cultural Center
of Burkina Faso.
Given the multitude of languages and cultures of the different countries that make up the African continent, there is a wide variety of theatrical traditions, which often incorporate elements of oral and mythological tradition. Dance, music, dialogue, masks and costumes are part of the same representation, and there is no separation between stage and audience.
