US bombing destroyed the IVIC mathematics center

The bombing carried out by the United States against our country, on January 3, completely destroyed the facilities of the Mathematics Center of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, reported.

“The attack was total: these areas housed servers and essential equipment for our computer networks that were completely devastated,” said the also sector vice president of Science, Technology, Education and Health, while stating that the devastation was caused by the impact of two North American missiles.

He also noted that in addition to the Mathematics Center, the physics center, the chemistry center, the ecology center and the nuclear technology unit of the IVIC were also affected.

“These spaces, now devastated by the bombing, have been fundamental to training the professionals who sustain our health, engineering and oil sovereignty. It is an unprecedented act of imperial aggression against the people of Venezuela, in which the civil and scientific infrastructure of our Homeland has been attacked,” he said.

In this regard, he emphasized that there is no justification for this attack against spaces that have served to provide historical answers to the country and the world, which are “sanctuaries of science”.

“We denounce that this escalation of war has not only hit our laboratories, but has reached the extreme of kidnapping our Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro Moros and First Combatant Dr. Cilia Flores, in a desperate attempt to break the will of the nation,” Jiménez said.
