The Secretary of Transportation of the United States (USA), Sean Duffy, announced on Saturday that the restrictions on airspace in the Caribbean, imposed after the imperial military attack against Venezuela, will be lifted at midnight Washington time.

The measure, which affected hundreds of commercial flights across the region, was implemented early in the morning by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) “in support of the War Department” and to “ensure public safety on flights”

Through his account on the social network X, Duffy wrote that flights may resume this Sunday, thus ending the restriction on Caribbean airspace. As reported by the secretary, “the airlines are already informed and will update their schedules soon”.

The decision to temporarily close regional airspace was directly linked to the military operation launched by the United States in the early morning of Saturday against several points in Venezuelan territory, including Caracas.

As part of that operation, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were kidnapped, who were taken to New York to face federal charges for drug trafficking, among other crimes
