The leaders of the Hispanic Caucus of the United States Congress (CHC) considered this Saturday “unforgivable” that President Donald Trump spent “billions of taxpayer dollars” on “unauthorized” military action and not “on helping millions of Americans who face extreme increases in their health insurance costs.”
In a statement, the CHC warns that Trump's interventionist plan for Venezuela “will not only weaken our global and regional alliances,” but will “harm Americans within our country. That social crisis could still be avoided if only Trump would put America first.”
The Telesur portal specified that the Hispanic Caucus, founded in 1976 and which currently brings together more than twenty Latino congressmen from California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, New Jersey and New York, warns that the head of the White House “is putting the United States and its men and women in uniform in a dangerous and uncertain situation.”
The CHC leaders “unequivocally” reject the “idea that “the United States can administer another sovereign nation”.
After stating that “we will do everything possible to avoid the catastrophes so often caused by illegal and poorly organized interventions”, they announce that “we will work to restore constitutional order in the United States, returning war powers to Congress, as stated in the Constitution.”
