The Secretary of the Treasury of the United States (USA), Janet Yellen, warned the People's Republic of China about the significant consequences that companies would face if they provided material support to the Russian Federation in the conflict with Ukraine.

The statements of the US official were given during an online meeting with He Lifeng, vice prime minister of the State Council of China, as part of “efforts to responsibly manage the bilateral economic relationship,” Russia Today (RT) quotes the organization.

Yellen questioned “China's non-trade practices and excess industrial capacity”, which, according to her, “harm American workers and companies” and will continue to negatively affect relations between the two nations.

He extended his alleged concern about “the malicious cyber activity of actors sponsored by the Chinese State and its impact on the bilateral relationship.”

At the end of December, the US Department of the Treasury said it had been 'hacked' by an individual or group sponsored by the Chinese State through a provider of 'software' services for third parties.
