USA: Highly influential figure in conservative youth politics was shot at a rally

The executive director and lead voice of the conservative group Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, was the victim of an attempted murder after being shot at least one while participating in an event organized at Utah Valley University (UVU).

According to detailed information from local media, the incident occurred during a question and answer session under a tent in the courtyard of the campus's Sorensen Center.

Audiovisual material shared on social networks shows Kirk speaking through a handheld microphone, sitting when a detonation is heard. Immediately, a large amount of blood is seen coming out of his neck on the opposite side from where he seems to have been shot and seems to remain unconscious, while screams of terror erupt among the audience.

According to information reported by Telesur, Turning Point USA confirmed the attack through its public relations manager, Aubrey Laitsch, who stated: “We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie.”

At press time, Kirk's specific health status and prognosis had not been officially released by medical authorities.

Charlie Kirk, 31, is a very influential figure in conservative youth politics. He is known for his strong and often controversial stances on a wide range of issues, from the management of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate science to racial issues and high-profile criminal cases, such as the plot of Jeffrey Epstein.
