In documents declassified by Washington, it was revealed that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Anwar al Awlaki, one of the leaders of the terrorist group Al Qaeda, a civil engineering career at the University of Colorado.
According to information from Fuser News, USAID provided “full funding” to Awlaki after he falsely declared that he was born in Yemen in order to access the financial aid offered to foreign students.
Al Awlaki was killed in 2011 by a US drone in Yemen while leading the Al Qaeda section in the Arabian Peninsula. According to the documents, he supported armed jihad (armed struggle) primarily through cyberspace to expand the group's global reach.
In the same way, he is known for his involvement in numerous terrorist actions around the world, including the September 11, 2001 attack in the United States that left almost three thousand dead and 25 thousand people injured, after four suicide attacks against the World Trade Center in New York.
