Venezuela achieves its second win in the U23 Baseball World Cup

The national under-23 baseball team extended its undefeated victory and added its second victory in the Pan-American Championship held in Lima, Peru, after defeating its Argentine counterpart 4 races by 3 this Tuesday to command the classification of the tournament that gives a place to the world championship category.

Third baseman Gabriel Rodríguez was the most outstanding with the wood at the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Complex in Villa María del Triunfo, starting 2-1 with a home run, three RBIs and one scored, followed by utility Wilkerman García with a couple of steps on the plate and receiver Giovanny Rivero with another line scored.

As far as the pitchers are concerned, the victory was credited to reliever Wilker Palma, who struck out four opponents and awarded a pair of walks in 2.0 innings of work, while the defeat was taken by closer Niko Weber after tolerating three lines, all dirty, two uncatchable, a ticket and a trio of strikeouts.

The victory places Venezuela in first place in the standings with a score of 2-0, accompanied by Argentina (1-1), Brazil (0-1) and Peru (0-1), respectively.

Before the ninth Venezuelan in its debut in the competition last Monday, it won 4 by 3 against Brazil.

The next match for the team led by manager Oswaldo Navarro will be this Wednesday against the local representation, Peru, starting at 3:30 in the afternoon, while Brazil and Argentina will face each other in the opening match (11:30 a.m.).
