The men's national softball team took third place in Group A, after falling in the semifinals to the reigning champion Australia.
The Criollos ranked first in the first stage, after leaving a record of 5-0, followed by the Dominican Republic with 3-2, and Australia and Mexico with 2-3, thus advancing to the semifinals.
Despite its extraordinary performance, Venezuela fell 4-1 to Australia in that instance, placing third despite having more games won.
Now Australia will face the Dominican Republic in the final.
The XVIII Men's Softball World Cup was played in a two-stage format. Group A played in Hermosillo, while Group B will play from July 10 to 14 in Prince Albert, Canada; and Group C from September 17 to 21 in Oklahoma City.
The top two teams in each group, plus two wild cards, will move on to the WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Finals next year, which is scheduled for July 8-13, 2025 in Prince Albert, Canada.
