Member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) will insist, at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), on the need for new and predictable climate finance that recognizes the differentiated responsibilities between developed and developing countries, said the Minister for Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca.

“We had the honor of speaking on behalf of the member countries of ALBA: Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, and from ALBA we want to thank the presidencies of the Subsidiary Bodies and all the representatives present for their hard work in the search for consensus in these challenging days,” said Lorca through his Instagram account.

He also insisted that it is essential that countries continue to demonstrate political will to implement the Convention and the Paris Agreement. “ALBA will defend the principles of equity and the right of our peoples to development, without accepting that responsibilities that do not belong to us are transferred to us,” he said

In addition, he recalled that Unilateral Coercive Measures “seriously affect our ability to act in the face of the climate crisis. “It's time to lift them up!”

“From Venezuela and ALBA, we will continue to work for an inclusive and participatory multilateralism, providing constructive answers to achieve our objectives,” he added.
