The former foreign minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, maintained a telephone contact with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, in which they agreed on the prevailing need to defend the international legal framework and safeguard the political and territorial sovereignty of all nations.

Through a post on his telegram channel, Gil explained that they spoke about the situation in Venezuela and the rejection of illegal military aggressions by the United States against Venezuelan territory.

Gil reiterated that U.S. military aggressions against Venezuela not only violate the United Nations Charter, but also set a dangerous precedent for the region, seeking to put national laws before international law.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister indicated that, during the telephone contact, they also addressed the serious violation of the immunity of President Nicolás Maduro, who was kidnapped together with the first lady, Cilia Flores.
