Venezuela and China consolidate educational and technological cooperation

The Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, held a meeting with Professor Wei Hong, director of International Cooperation of the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering of the University of Science and Technology of the South (SUStech) of the People's Republic of China, in order to advance an agenda of bilateral cooperation in educational and technological matters.
The rector of the National University of Sciences, Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, pointed out that these efforts are “an essential engine for strengthening our national scientific capacities.”
Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez explained, according to a MINCYT press release, that this approach “marks the beginning of a phase of closer cooperation between our National University of Sciences Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán and the University of Shenzhen”.
He explained that the planned lines of work include strategic areas fundamental to national development such as artificial intelligence, engineering and cutting-edge scientific disciplines, which will strengthen the training and technical capacities of young Venezuelans.
The also Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health also stressed that coordination with academic institutions of high international prestige “significantly strengthens the integral formation of our youth”, who “are called to play a fundamental role in building a multipolar world, based on a vision of technology oriented towards a science centered on the life and well-being of peoples”.
Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez recalled that these initiatives are part of the All-Trial and All-Time Strategic Partnership, signed in 2023 by presidents Nicolás Maduro Moros and Xi Jinping, a mechanism that consolidates binational relationships and promotes shared development between both nations.
