During a telephone
conversation between the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela, Yván Gil, and his counterpart from Italy, Antonio Tajani, both countries
agreed on Monday to raise their diplomatic missions to the rank of ambassadors.
Through his Telegram
channel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister indicated that they agreed to establish a bilateral work
agenda, valuing the historical ties between the two countries,
given the important Italian community that resides in the country.
“We have agreed
to raise the level of our diplomatic missions to the rank of ambassadors, and in
the coming days we will be making the
corresponding announcements and contacts,” said the Venezuelan diplomat.
Gil also
explained to his Italian counterpart “the recent attacks against Venezuela, which
caused hundreds of civilian and military deaths, in open
violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
I also expressed to him the deep appreciation that the Venezuelan people and the Italian immigrant
community living in Venezuela have for the historical and
cultural ties that unite us,” he explained.
