Venezuela and Mauritania strengthen bilateral relations after telephone meeting between their leaders

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Pro-Tempore President of the African Union, H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

This was reported by the Minister of Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, through his account on the social network X, in which he explained that both leaders addressed issues related to excellent bilateral relations, close cooperation in multilateral forums and the electoral processes that will take place in both countries in 2024.

Regarding this telephone meeting, the Bolivarian Government issued an official statement, which is detailed below.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a telephone conversation today with the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Pro-Tempore President of the African Union, H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, at which time both leaders addressed issues related to excellent bilateral relations, close cooperation in multilateral forums and the electoral processes that will take place in both countries in 2024.

Venezuela's relations with the African continent are strategic and, in this context, the President of the Republic extended a cordial invitation for the participation of a large delegation of companions from the African Union in the presidential elections that will take place on July 28, 2024, as stipulated by the National Electoral Council.

President Nicolás Maduro Moros expressed his commitment to vigorous Venezuelan democracy, while stressing the importance of having the presence, in the upcoming elections, of international observers from the prestigious African Union, the most important multilateral organization on the continent, of which Venezuela has the honor of being an observer country since 2005. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its irrevocable will to continue consolidating relations of brotherhood and South-South cooperation with Mother Africa, the living legacy of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez.
