Venezuela and Namibia strengthen educational and cultural cooperation with a view to the Second Joint Commission

The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Magaly Henríquez, held a fruitful working meeting with the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Namibia, Sanet L. Steenkamp, with the purpose of deepening the bilateral cooperation agenda and reaffirming the historic bonds of friendship, solidarity and mutual respect that unite both nations.
Welcoming the Venezuelan delegation, Minister Steenkamp emphasized that this meeting represents a valuable opportunity to continue consolidating cooperation.
He also expressed his deepest condolences to the people and Government of Venezuela for the regrettable losses caused by the earthquakes that occurred on June 24.
In this context, he expressed his deep admiration for the strength and resilience of the Venezuelan people, reiterating Namibia's full willingness to provide the support and cooperation that Venezuela deems necessary in the face of this situation.
Ambassador Henríquez conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela and thanked them for their support during this difficult situation. She took stock of the consequences to date of the two earthquakes that occurred, the resilience of the Venezuelan people and the great international solidarity.
He also reaffirmed the strong will of the Venezuelan Government to continue strengthening the strategic alliance with Namibia, based on shared principles of South-South cooperation, complementarity, respect for sovereignty and mutual benefit.
In the area of bilateral cooperation, both authorities carried out a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in the preparation of the Second Venezuela-Namibia Joint Commission, identifying as priority areas education, university education, culture, sports, hydrocarbons and mining.
The meeting also made it possible to evaluate the results obtained during the years 2025 and 2026 within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on cultural matters, highlighting the achievements achieved in promoting artistic and cultural exchanges.
In this context, the participation of the outstanding Namibian artist TopCheri in the VIII Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa, held in Caracas last May, was especially recognized as a significant expression of the strengthening of cultural ties between the peoples of Venezuela and Namibia.
Committed to advancing strategic partnerships in the fields of education, innovation, science, culture and sports, they will continue to promote the cooperation agenda between the nations of the Global South.
