The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Europe, Coromoto Godoy, met this Monday with the ambassador of the Republic of Serbia accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Katarina Andrić, to review bilateral cooperation projects, based on the long friendship between both nations and mutual understanding, within the framework of a common commitment to respect international law and its principles.

At the meeting, held at the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House in Caracas, the Venezuelan diplomat recalled the deep respect expressed by President Nicolás Maduro for his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vučić, whom she described as a great leader and a courageous man. In this sense, the two countries share the inalienable principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and self-determination of peoples.

For her part, Ambassador Andrić thanked her for the warm and attentive welcome she has received since her arrival in Caracas and said that her country shares the Venezuelan vision of an international system where all countries are equal and have the same rights and duties.

In addition, the Serbian diplomat assured that cooperation between the two countries will be very fruitful in different areas, especially in education, sports, culture and agriculture, so she said that soon her country will have a greater presence in Venezuela.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Serbia, established on April 13, 1882, have experienced significant advances in areas of mutual interest, demonstrated in the meetings, visits and bilateral meetings held during the last years of the Bolivarian Government.

The ties between the two countries reached their highest level in 2019, when the Serbian Government expressed its support for President Maduro, who demonstrated that country's sovereign foreign policy, independent and free from imperialist interference, both from the European Union and the United States.

Venezuela has reiterated its unrestricted support for the territorial integrity of Serbia and is unaware of the unilateral independence of the province of Kosovo fostered by the imperial interests of the United States and Europe. This year 2024, the 142nd Anniversary of Binational Diplomatic Relations will be celebrated.
