National Government authorities and representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) held a virtual planning meeting to advance the labor agenda and coordinate the logistics of the Fifth Social Dialogue Forum.

During the meeting, it was confirmed that the event will take place in Caracas on April 28 and 29 . The Venezuelan authorities pledged to immediately send the agenda and formal invitations, thus ensuring the participation of the international organization's technical delegation, the Ministry of People's Power for Labor explained.

In turn, the ILO reaffirmed its willingness to provide technical assistance in strategic areas, such as the methodology for fixing the minimum wage and compliance with conventions 26, 87 and 144.

In addition, the representatives of the ILO, Corinne Vargha, Ana Virginia Moreira and Ítalo Cardona, described the recent release of trade unionists as an “encouraging sign”, a fact that was positively recognized during the organization's Board of Directors.

The authorities concluded the meeting by commenting that they are at an excellent time to continue making progress in cooperation. “Communication is essential to achieve common objectives for the benefit of the labor sector and employer,” they said.
