Venezuela and the Italian port of Ravenna move towards a strategic alliance for commercial cooperation

The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Italy, María Elena Uzzo, accompanied by the councilor for the commercial area, Diego Marín, made an institutional visit to the port of Ravenna, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, with the purpose of getting to know its facilities, infrastructure and operational capacities, as well as exploring new opportunities for exchange and cooperation between Venezuela and this important port Italian.

The Venezuelan delegation was received by representatives of the Office of the Presidency of the Emilia-Romagna Region; the mayor of Ravenna, Alessandro Barattoni; the president of the North Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, Francesco Benevolo; and the maritime director of Emilia-Romagna and commander of the Port Captaincy-Coast Guard, ship captain Maurizio Tattoli.

The visit began with a welcome meeting at the headquarters of the Port System Authority and, later, the delegation toured the port by boat, allowing them to learn directly about its facilities, operational areas and logistics connections, as well as to appreciate its strategic potential within the region's port and production system.

The activity continued with a working meeting with representatives of the port and business sector, in which technical-operational experiences were exchanged and the competitive advantages offered by direct commercial exchange with Venezuela were evaluated.

During the meeting, Ambassador Uzzo highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Venezuela and Italy through concrete cooperation initiatives, especially in areas related to trade, logistics, maritime transport, supply chains and port development.

The diplomatic representative stated that this is a first step towards the formation of a joint working group, with the objective of eventually signing a cooperation agreement between Venezuela and the Port of Ravenna, aimed at promoting institutional, business and technical exchange.

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Italy will continue to promote spaces for dialogue with local authorities, regional institutions and representatives of the Italian productive sector, identifying areas of common interest for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
