This Saturday, January 10, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported that he held a meeting with the chargé d'affaires of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Carmen Gonsalves, in which they reviewed the state of bilateral relations and addressed strategic issues for regional stability, including existing cooperation agreements to combat transnational crime and drug trafficking.
In his account on the social network Telegram, Gil specified that he also shared Venezuela's complaint “in the face of the attack perpetrated on January 3, which flagrantly violated the Charter of the United Nations, the fundamental principles of international law and the personal immunity of the constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the First Lady, Cilia Flores de Maduro.”
In that regard, he stressed that “we are addressing the consequences of this attack, which left around a hundred innocent civilians and soldiers killed, who lost their lives defending the sovereignty and peace of the Venezuelan homeland.”
During the meeting, he noted that there was discussion about strengthening ties with the islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. Both delegations agreed on the importance of maintaining a good-neighbourly relationship to promote economic and social development in the Caribbean border area.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening joint efforts within the framework of existing cooperation agreements to combat transnational crime and drug trafficking.
