Venezuela and the Republic of Congo discuss cooperation in forestry

In the framework of the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, held in Caracas, the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Congo, Laura Evangelia Suárez, held a meeting with the Minister of Forest Economy of this nation, Rosalie Matondo, with whom she discussed the organization of the event in Caracas, as well as the activation of the instrument subscribed to the subject matter and the prospects for working together.

During the meeting, the minister recalled the participation of a senior Venezuelan delegation in the Summit of the Three Great Basins, held in Brazzaville, in October 2023, referring to the exchange in environmental and forestry matters between Congolese and Venezuelan authorities.

In this regard, the parties discussed the participation of the Congolese minister virtually in the Congress in Caracas, in which a video was shared with a message related to the event, recalling the Chuquisaca Decree, enacted by the Liberator Simon Bolivar in 1825, as well as a presentation on the environmental wealth of the Congo.

Finally, the authorities discussed the continued activation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the matter, agreeing that the next step would be to hold videoconferences between the ministries of both countries.
