The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a telephone conversation this Thursday with his counterpart from the Republic of Uganda, General Haji Abubaker Jeje Odongo, in which they reviewed the state of bilateral cooperation and agreed on the importance of moving forward with the early realization of the First Binational Joint Commission, to be held in Caracas in 2026.

In a post on his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan foreign minister explained that, in addition, they highlighted “the relevant leadership role played by Uganda at the head of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL), in an international context marked by significant challenges.”

With regard to the current geopolitical situation, both diplomats reaffirmed their “common commitment to the defense of international law, the sovereignty of States and the rejection of aggressions that threaten the peace and stability of our peoples”.

Last October, regarding the Midterm Ministerial Meeting of the MNOAL in Uganda, Gil and Jeje Odongo agreed on their willingness to strengthen bilateral ties in the political, economic and cultural spheres, “as well as in our collaboration as members of the MNOAL and the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations”.
